🐶 Essential Requirements

✔️ Dachshunds only or a Dachshund-mix

✔️ No intact boys of any age, sorry!

✔️ Males must have been neutered or chemically implanted at least 8 weeks before any visit here

✔️ Females must not be due, or in season, at the time of any visit or stay

✔️ Vaccinations must be up-to-date for DHP and Lepto (or a valid titre test)

✔️ Kennel Cough vaccination is NOT required here. If given, then a minimum of 6 weeks must pass before your dog can visit here.

✔️ If your dog is adopted or a rescue, it must have been in your ownership for at least 12 months

🐾 Behaviour & Suitability

Little Sizzlers is a busy home environment where your Sausage will live in our home, alongside our own Sausages and other Sausage guests.

 

We know this is a fairly detailed list, but please do take a moment to read it carefully. Every requirement is important and has been put in place to help keep all our Sausages safe, happy and comfortable.

 

For everyone's safety, comfort and wellbeing, we are unable to accept your dog if it displays any of the following behaviours:

🚫 Aggression or unsafe behaviour

✔️ Has ever growled at, snapped at, air-snapped at, nipped or bitten a person or another dog, whether or not physical contact or injury occurred.

✔️ Displays aggression, reactivity or behaviour that may present a risk to people or other dogs.

​

🤲 Handling

✔️ Has needed to be muzzled or restrained whilst being handled because of its behaviour.

✔️ Displays negative or unsafe reactions to handling, including being picked up or having its paws, legs, ears, eyes or mouth checked.

​

🧸 Guarding & interactions with other dogs

✔️ Shows resource guarding of chews, toys, balls, food or a bonded second dog from the same household.

✔️ Challenges or dominates other dogs during play, around sleeping areas, or over food or toys.

✔️ Shows an obsession with other dogs that makes it difficult to settle or interact appropriately.

✔️ Humps other dogs.

🏡 Household behaviour

✔️ Has severe separation anxiety, whether currently in training to address this or not.

✔️ Scent-marks indoors.

✔️ Displays excessive or constant barking.

✔️ Is wired, hyperactive or non-stop, and unable to settle appropriately in a busy household environment.

✔️ Displays destructive behaviour towards the home, furnishings, garden or other property.

🎓 General cooperation

✔️ Refuses to comply with requests without bribery.

✔️ Is not house-trained. (Puppies under 1 year old are excluded from this requirement.)

 

If any of the above applies to your Sausage, we’re afraid they won’t be the right fit for Little Sizzlers, so there’s no need to send us an enquiry. Sadly, not every Sausage is the right fit for our little pack! 🌭
